As we age, you may notice that your face shape changes as the elasticity of the tissue, the tension and brightness decrease. Other changes may be the wrinkles around the eyes, deeper lines around the mouth cheeks. Not only these aging attributes to the aging but also the exposure to the ultraviolet rays over a long time of period.
There are so many ways to treat wrinkles or less elasticity such as by phototherapy or laser. "Fibroblast treatment(fibroblast implant, fibroblast injection)" has gained its attention as an advanced treatment for reversing aging.
Young fibroblasts are transplanted into the dermis of the skin using thin needles. Once in the dermis, the cells immediately start working – producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

In fibroblast therapy, the patient's own skin is harvested and some fine fibroblasts (cells that produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid: these cells make the skin elastic ) are collected and cultured (i.e., the cells are increased). Fibroblast therapy is a treatment in which fibroblasts are cultured and multiplied tens of thousands of times and injected directly into the skin of the face and neck. Since the treatment uses your own cells, it is highly safe and can be expected to not only restore skin elasticity and moisture, but also suppress the aging of the skin. It can be called a fundamental skin beautification treatment.

Our skin is consisted of epidermis and dermis. Epidermis lays on the surface that functions to store water. Dermis lays under epidermis and they mainly work to keep the elasticity and tightening of the skin. Fibroblasts, which mainly exist in dermis, increase the production of collagen , elastin and hyaluronic acid, which are essential in keeping one's skin tight and elastic.

Collagen

Collagen dominates about 70 % of dermis and is a kind of protein that stay in the dermis. It’s what gives skin their strength and elasticity. They also play an important role is forming bone or vessels.

Elastin

Elastin dominates about 2% of dermis and is a kind of protein that aids in skin’s elasticity and connective tissues. It often connects collagen and another supportive protein to give skin its texture and shape.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a component found throughout the body’s connective tissue. HA is the main component of what gives your skin structure, and is responsible for that plump and hydrated look. 1mg of HA can store 6L of water and they exist in various places such as eyes, joints and etc.

You may probably know by now that fibroblasts that produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are essential in maintaining youthful skin. However the number of fibroblasts decrease due to aging and damage by ultraviolet rays, which causes more spots, wrinkles,saggy skin and other kinds of aging signs. You might have given up on reversing aging, however thanks to the advance in medicine, we can reverse the aging of our skin and slow down the pace of aging. That is "fibroblast therapy(fibroblast injection, fibroblast implant.)"

How is fibroblast obtained?

This treatment is the treatment you use your own fibroblasts. Skin that is as small as rice is harvested from behind the ear where is less exposed to outer elements. The skin taken is transferred in a sterile environment to a fully equipped cell processing center. The fibroblasts in the tissue are separated and multiplied in the laboratory using blood serum also taken from you. It takes at least 5-6 weeks to culture the cells to reach 100 million. When the fibroblasts are multiplied millions of times, they are bottled in small volumes and injected into the skin by the doctor.
Typically we inject fibroblasts twice in 2 weeks and that brings more effect.

Expected effect

Our skin rejuvenate by injecting good quality and quantity of fibroblasts to our skin. Those changes are improvements of wrinkles, saggy skin, acne spots, pores, dark circle around your eyes, laugh lines (nasolabial folds), wrinkles of your neck or hands. It ususally takes 1-3 months to recognize the change. The effect lasts for 1-3 years and even the pace of aging slows down afterwards.

Different patients will have different priorities when choosing a beauty treatment. Effectiveness, price, and downtime will all be taken into consideration when deciding on a treatment.

Even if your skin rejuvenates by beauty treatment, it doesn't last forever, and aging begins again from there.
Considering that, we think that it is important to choose a therapy that brings high effect and that lasts as long as possible.

As shown in the table below, fibroblast therapy is more expensive than other treatments, but you will be more satisfied after treatment.
As mentioned earlier, fibroblast therapy is a treatment for skin rejuvenation by replenishing 100 million fibroblasts, which produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to maintain skin elasticity.
On the other hand, in PRP and ACRS therapies, growth factors and other cytokines released from platelets in one's own blood work on existing fibroblasts and other cells in the skin to rejuvenate it.
As we age, number of fibroblasts in the skin decrease. With all being said, when we inject PRP or ACRS into such an aged skin, there may not be a drastic change because there aren't many fibroblasts to be worked on.

Depending on the patient's age and skin condition, we may recommend a combination treatment of fibroblast therapy first, followed by PRP, ACRS, or exosome injections into the skin. You have the option to store your fibroblast in the bank.The key advantage of this technique is that at a young age, patients can create their own fibroblast bank for rejuvenation in adulthood.
Fibroblasts are perfectly preserved at ultra-low temperatures for many years at Cellbank. Fibroblast therapy alone can bring a rejuvenating effect on the skin, but combining PRP therapy, ACRS therapy, exosome therapy, and other therapies can bring even greater results.

PRP therapy

PRP therapy is a regenerative medicine in which platelets extracted from your own blood are injected into damaged tissue to promote healing and repairing. Platelets release growth factors which help repair damaged tissues.

ACRS therapy

ACRS therapy is a skin care treatment based on regenerative medicine similar to PRP in which ACRS created from one's own blood is injected into damaged tissues to promote healing and repairing. As written above, it takes at least 5 weeks to culture enough amount of fibroblasts. You can schedule the injection any day after 5 weeks from harvesting your skin.

１st course

Typical fibroblast therapy includes 2 times of injection. For the first time you inject half the fibroblast and 2 weeks later you receive the half left to improve the rate fibroblats stick to dermis and function well.

After 1st course

The effectiveness lasts for 1 to 3 years. One treatment in 1 to 3 years is recommended.

Q.Is fibroblast treatment categoraized as regenerative medicine?
A. Yes. fibroblast treatment is a regenerative medicine that is only performed in the hospital or clinic approved by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Ginza Beauty Medical Clinic is the official clinic approved for regenerative medicine by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Q.Can we use health insurance?
A. No, the treatment performed in our clinic is not covered by health insurance.
Q.How long does it take to receive 1 course of treatment?
A. It takes at least 2 months from the first visit to actually receive treatment, including 5 to 6 weeks of culturing. It also depends on the schedule of cell processing center.
Q.Who is not qualified to receive the treatment?
A. Anyone with followings can not receive the treatment.
①Anybody who is postive for the following infectious diseases.

Syphilis
Human T-cell adult lymphoma
AIDS
If you have the blood test that is done within 3 months, please bring the test results.
②Anyone who is pregnant
③Anyone who has sensitivity to human-insulin
④Anyone who is allergic to antibiotics (Due to the use of antibiotics when culturing fibroblasts)
⑤Anyone with active autoimmune diseases, active cancer and etc.
Q.How is fibroblast harvested?
A. We harvest 8mm length of skin from behind the ear. You won't feel any pain because we will inject local anesthesia.
The wound would heal in a week with daily care. Patients can choose suture or without suture.
Q.How often should patients receive the treatments?
A. When you receive this treatment for the first time, 1 course (2 times of injection) is recommended. Since the effect lasts for 1 to 3 years, 1 treatment after 2 or 3 years is recommended, and again treatment after 2-3 years is recommended.

How soon the effect appears and how long the effect lasts vary depending on individuals' symptoms and age. Most of the patients are happy with the results but some are not because the improvements might not be as big as patients expect. Young patients or patients with less aging signs tend to have less drastic changes because they still have good quality and quantity of fibroblasts.
However any patients can feel that their pace of aging will slow down by fibroblast therapy.
It is important to fully consider whether fibroblast therapy is appropriate for your symptoms in the counseling. We hope that you will fully discuss this with the doctor.
Possible side effects are
①Redness, swelling, temporary pigmentation
②Skin roughness, itching or other discomfort, dryness or unevenness of the skin
③Possible allergic side effects from drugs used during treatment
Many of the side effects will improve over time. If side effects appear as a result of treatment at our clinic, we will take care of them including treatments.
